Taxilandia is a taxi ride that is a multi-city, hyperlocal journey through gentrification - a decolonial franchise. We come to your city and lead a process for telling histories of a neighborhood confronting social stigmas and the realities of gentrification in poetic and visual ways, resulting in fun, compelling, and hyperlocal experiences, directed by Flako.

Brooklyn-based artist Modesto Flako Jimenez is bringing his acclaimed show, Taxilandia, to cities across America. In Washington, DC, Flako will design and host a series of hybrid salons with local artists Melani Douglass, John Johnson, and Jason Anderson (JaySun), whose work intersects with gentrification. In-person and streamed live, these participatory salons are open to all and explore our notion of what it means to be a local, an immigrant, or a resident of a place. The salons will challenge us to answer “What is my personal roadmap of home?” and offer creative strategies for confronting gentrification.

Life of the White Ant explores the concept of whiteness by following the life path of the termite. Beginning with the book “Life of the white ant,” by Maurice Maeterlinck,  three characters discuss, re-interpret, alter, and expand this text to examine the idea of whiteness through an unexpected and disorienting lens.  Where does the termite live, what does it eat, and how does it build? We’ll answer these questions and more, and in so doing shed an unusual light on what it might mean to be white. Life of the White Ant is written by Joey Weiss, co-directed by Modesto Flako Jimenez and Joey Weiss, and is being produced by ¡OYE! Group.
